Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
